And now some words of wisdom out of the mouth of a 'bum'. (Although I wouldn't be the one to say it to Joe Pesci's face.)

Simon Wilder: You asked the question, sir, now let me answer it. The beauty of the Constitution is that it can always be changed. The beauty of the Constitution is that it makes no set law other than faith in the wisdom of ordinary people to govern themselves.

Proffesor Pitkannan: Faith in the wisdom of the people is exactly what makes the Constitution incomplete and crude.

Simon Wilder: Crude? No, sir. Our "founding parents" were pompous, white, middle-aged farmers, but they were also great men. Because they knew one thing that all great men should know: that they didn't know everything. Sure, they'd make mistakes, but they made sure to leave a way to correct them. The president is not an "elected king," no matter how many bombs he can drop. Because the "crude" Constitution doesn't trust him. He's just a bum, okay Mr. Pitkannan? He's just a bum.

Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.

People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

New Hampshire State Constitution - Bill of Rights: Established October 31, 1783 Effective June 2, 1784. As Subsequently Amended and in Force January 2007

Art.] 2. [Natural Rights.] All men have certain natural, essential, and inherent rights - among which are, the enjoying and defending life and liberty; acquiring, possessing, and protecting, property; and, in a word, of seeking and obtaining happiness. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by this state on account of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.

[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

Well, in a few short hours I'll be wrapping up the last of my summer overtime hours. Yep, those 65 and 70 plus hour workweeks here at the hospital are done, and it's back to part-time weekends once more. WHICH MEANS I can actually relax and unpack (something I've been doing on my 'days' off. BTW, what the hell is a day off when I spend hours and hours unpacking, moving stuff, cleaning, sorting, etc? Truth is, it isn't. Not at all!)

I mean, sure, I may get called in a few times, but no more insane hours and mega-shifts of work. At least, not until the next holiday season. What this means in layman's terms? I can relax. Chill even. Put my life, and my family, and my home in order. I CAN WRITE AGAIN! Hopefully my muses' have not all deserted me for more fertile minds, but we shall see.

To all my friends here, and on the net? Yes, this means I may actually have a so-called real life once more. One that involves IM'ing, and TALKING, and actually SEEING real, live, living people and not in a work capacity! Whoo! Did someone mention roller skating, and did someone else mention a girls night out?

Ok, gotta run, the shift's not over yet. And I did get some VERY disturbing news from [livejournal.com profile] whitestagg a little while ago that I am still pondering over before I decide whether or not to blow up over it. But that's his story and not mine to tell.

*ps - to my net and rp amigo's 'HEY XINA, KYM, JINX,ANNE,DELE,DOREEN, KYLE, NICK, BETH, LIZ, and um, well, all of you because I'm out of time to write? I'm BACK!

I just hope my muse's are...

In case you haven't heard (and yes a lot of people haven't heard, so don't worry if we haven't been able to contact you in other ways because things have been really screwy here) - the Handfasting is off for now. Off until - sometime next year. Other things take priority, other things have taken priority.

This has been a public non-service announcement.

Have a nice day.

Just getting on the computer now, so I know it's late and I need to be flogged.

However;

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] acacia7876! Hope your next year is better than your last!!

Yes, I am of the nervous here. But, in an effort to get back into writing, that thing which I love that also drives me to cower behind dictionaries and duck into doorways to hide from the random drive-by thesaurus.

(and as Dele wrote) SO. Lyrics meme, my friends. Give me some lyrics (JUST A COUPLE LINES) and I will write for you something about one of your characters and one of mine. (which for me, is horrible because it's been so long since I've rp'ed that I don't recall all of the muses out there that I've written with, much less which of my muses wrote with them! And if you could give me a hint who you all play again it would be AWESOME, but shhh)

And ALTERNATIVELY for ... people who don't RP with me, pick some lyrics, and I shall find a muse to respond with a few paragraphs...or something. Trust me, I have a few.

PS, some of this might end up being NSFW, because you know, I've done that sort of thing before. Just saying.
PPS, if you RP'ers know of any others who would like to join in the insanity, spread the word if you want.
PPPS, I do have to do things like, you know, eat, and shower, and work tonight. So some of this may be delayed.

yinepus_brat: (Blondes have more fun)
Very much enjoying April Vacation with Donovan, he's learning that people in this house like to hit each other and call it 'male bonding' and 'fun'. He's also learning not to razz the Bear when he first wakes up, no matter what time it is. Hehehehehe. I've braided his hair, and we've done the walking in the rain thing, and life is good.

And he's showing me a few things as well. Paul Potts? The winner of Britain's Got Talent, the cell phone salesman with the talent for singing Italian Opera, and such passion in his voice? Never heard of him until my 16 year old son told me about him the other night.

And you know something? For the first time in my life, I think I like Opera. Still have no clue what the words are, but - wow! What a voice.

In other news, Bear and I have found land for the hand-fasting, and we have a date - Sept 20, 2008. We have very few addresses, and a lot of people we don't even have the last names of. So sending out invites is going to be a pain in the tuckus. Another thing we don't have is money to pull it off the way we'd planned. With getting the new appt, and getting my son back this year, we just don't have the money for the big elaborate ceremony with all the attendants and honor guard and swords and all that we had had hoped for. We're really sorry about it, but in this case? Real life comes first. Now comes the sad part of having to tell some of our closest friends the bad news.

My body. And for those who didn't get that?

MY BODY.

I don't need and I don't want a red button, or a green button, or a glow-in-the-dark smiley face button for that matter. Which also means that I don't need to be thought of as 'sitting on the fence, or undecided as to whether I'll wear a button', or 'maybe I can be talked into wearing this button or that button or' - you know what? Just no. I don't want a button therefore there shall be no button on me.

I don't need someone else's validation of my body to be worth it, I know I'm worthy and I KNOW I'm worth it. And I choose to allow only the ones I want within a certain amount of personal space. My space. My choice. Nothing 'liberated' or 'repressed' or 'open' or 'fun-loving' or whatever. If you ask to touch something I don't want you to, I'll say no. No flames coming out of my mouth, no smoke from my ears. Just no, simple right? Done it before, I'll do it again. Now it doesn't mean that others would or would not feel uncomfortable by the same question asked at them, lots of people might - not going to argue that, I can understand it, completely. But I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about me. My live journal, I can be selfish like that.

And if you just touch without asking? Well, I have certain almost-instinctual reactions to that too. That normally end up with someone saying 'ow' and me thinking 'oops'. Again, it's who I am. And for the record, just to differentiate, there are nothing wrong with compliments. I give them when I feel something is worth complementing, and I receive them happily from others who give them when they think something of mine is worth complimenting. My words, my choices, my thoughts, my looks. It feels good for me, not going to deny it. Compliments however are by and far verbal, no touching needed.

On the other hand, I absolutely will not condemn those who choose to wear red *no you can't touch* or green *yes you can touch* buttons, or the ones with the glow-in-the-dark smiley faces for that matter. Why? Because they are choosing for themselves what they want for their own body. Their body, their choice, their levels of comfort, their boundaries, their fun, their lives. It's not my place to judge or to tell others how to live their lives, just - you know.

Don't tell me how to live mine.

*This is in no way to be taken as a political stand, or a call to revolution, or as any thing more than my thoughts and feelings typed up onto a computer screen. Feel free to ignore.*

What day is this? Where am I? Who are you? Where are my clothes? That's not my blue body paint. What am I doing here? Why are you staring at me? What did I do this time? Bear who?

Only two days to go (I think) until I get a few days off. Unless I get called in, I mean. And if Uncle Sam doesn't mug me for too much, I'll have a rather nice paycheck, me thinks. But damn, I'm not sure if I'm coming or going. 9 days in a row working 80 hours. Yea, nice paycheck.

Going out to coffee with a friend tomorrow, having some 'save the sanity' time in the early afternoon, and then hopefully Monday going to hang out with another friend whom I haven't seen in AGES. YAY!

Yea, this paycheck? I'm planning on my car going back on the road (still don't need it, am close enough to work to walk, but the idea of getting in and just driving appeals to me, ya know?) And maybe one or two other little fun things. *evil grin time*

So... Bear and I are taking a week off next month, going to enjoy a Feb vacation in Florida.

And then when income taxes come in? Possibly a cruise to Nova Scotia.

Oh yea, and for those who haven't heard the word yet? Come this autumn we'll be getting hand-fasted.

...

*knocking on wood* Yea, life is good.

They say that whatever you are doing at midnight on New Years Eve effects what you will be doing for the next year. So what was I doing? Being among friends, feeling safe, warm and loved. And drinking sparkling cider with someone very special. It was good. Really good.

To all of you: may this next year be better than your last, and may you waken from gentle dreams to a brighter tomorrow.
